Normal function of arteries and heart without Coronary Heart Disease

- Without Coronary Heart Disease the arteries and the heart function normally.
- The Function of the heart is to pump blood. If your heart doesn't have coronary heart disease the heart pumps blood at a regular speed with a regular rthym. The heart doesn't have any problems like angina or arrhythmia.
When the arteries are normal they don't have plaque build up. The blood can flow to the heart at regular speed without being slowed down by plaque.
Definition of Coronary Heart Disease

- Coronary Heart Disease is when plaque builds up in the coronary arteries
- When this happens the heart isn't getting oxygen rich blood to the heart so the heart isn't functioning properly.

- When the coronary arteries are blocked it can cause many problems like angina, strokes, or a heart attack.
- The worse thing that can happen is a heart attack. A heart attack happens when the coronary arteries are completly blocked so no blood is reaching the heart. Heart attacks can be fatal.
Treatment

- There are many types of treatment for coronary heart disease like life style changes.
- There are medications like nitroglycerin, beta-blockers, and aspirin.
- There are medical procedures like
coronary angioplasty and stents.
Coronary angioplasty and stents is a medical procedure when they insert a tube into your coronary artery and they inflate the balloon to unblock the artery and then it leaves a stent behind to keep the artery open.
